Top 5 New AI Jobs of 2023
5 AI Jobs that appeared in 2023 thanks to artificial intelligence Table of contents
While Skynet takes jobs away from some people, it gives new AI Jobs and career tracks to others.
In the midst of the hype around ChatGPT and its “brothers in mind”, some professions began to predict an early sunset. Most of all went to copywriters, editors, and journalists, who, according to AI enthusiasts, will be robbed of their Ai jobs by large language models in the foreseeable future. Judging by the cases of BuzzFeed (96 million sessions per month) and News Corp Australia (a media conglomerate of 142 daily newspapers), the gloomy forecasts are not so groundless.
On the other hand, new professions that involve working with neural networks and do not require deep technical knowledge have appeared against this background. Although the number of such vacancies is still small, they give a rough idea of the skills that will be in demand in the future.
We have compiled a list of AI professions that will appear in 2023, found out what qualities those who want to master them need and what income specialists can expect.
AI Trainer
What it does:
trains the neural network to respond naturally and correctly to user questions.
How much he earns:
from 75 thousand rubles a month.
What do you need:
- quickly understand unfamiliar topics;
- verify the accuracy of facts;
- write competent texts that solve people’s problems, and edit other people’s ones.
In the spring of 2023, Yandex opened a set of candidates for the AI coach position. Representatives of the new profession are training the YaLM 2.0 neural network (also known as YandexGPT) to answer questions “as well as people who understand the topic”. They identify good and bad responses, rank them, and write their own texts that the neural network learns from.
Candidates who pass the initial selection based on their resume will be assigned a two-part task. The first category includes literacy, ethics, and fact — checking tests. In the second one, you will have to write texts on a given topic for the neural network.
Apparently, the company is seriously planning to push OpenAI in the market for large language models.
Industrial Engineer
What it does:
it solves a wide range of tasks using neural networks, tests queries and maintains a database of promptov, and improves AI models together with other specialists.
How much he earns:
90-375 thousand dollars a year (according to vacancies in the United States).
What do you need:
- create accurate and correct instructions for large language models;
- know the principles and features of popular LLMs, and be able to work with their APIs;
- know programming languages (Python and Java are a priority);
- master PyTorch and big data technologies such as Hadoop, Apache Spark, and Hive;
- proficiency in English (will be an advantage).
For those who use ChatGPT and Midjourney only for entertainment purposes, it may seem that the modern neural network is a genie in a lamp that fulfills wishes and answers any questions. However, even at the first attempt to solve a real problem with its help, users find that the results do not always meet expectations. The fact is that a neural network is a smart program, but still a program that needs clear commands.
The prompt engineer
knows how to formulate a request in such a way as to get an interesting post for the Telegram channel from ChatGPT, a sticky cover from Midjourney, or even fix a bug on the server. The essence of the new profession is to find out the tasks and requirements of the customer, convert them into promptas and get results using neural networks.
The tasks of an industrial engineer are not limited to creating queries. He trains neural networks, sets up parameters and logic for their self-learning, and also participates in the development and testing of AI-based products.
Therefore, knowledge of programming languages, data structures, and big data tools will be a significant advantage for the candidate and help them grow faster in the profession.
The salaries of industrial engineers are more than decent. “Prompters” in the United States are paid from 90 to 130 thousand dollars a year, and specialists who solve more complex tasks — up to 375 thousand. However, at the time of publication, only one relevant vacancy was found.
In Russia in the spring, during the hype around ChatGPT, you could find several ads.
One of them, for example, was looking for a specialist with 3-6 years of experience — despite the fact that the profession itself appeared this year.
Today, there are no vacancies on popular career platforms such as HeadHunter and Superjob.
Neuroillustrator
What it does: It uses AI to create banners, social media creatives, and illustrations.
What do you need:
- be able to work with graphical neural networks and make accurate and correct queries for them;
- master graphic editors (Photoshop, Figma, Illustrator, etc.);
- have a lot of design insight and creativity.
How much he earns: the average salary is approximately equal to that of a designer.
Creating neuroillustrations can hardly be considered a separate profession — it is rather a skill that has become popular against the background of the powerful progress of graphical neural networks.
Now you don’t need to arrange expensive photo shoots for an advertising campaign or buy illustrations from artists: all this will be done in a couple of minutes by one designer using Midjourney, DALL-E or another similar service.
Graphical neural networks photorealistically reproduce given subjects, offer a variety of styles, and allow you to set your own.
AI Ethics Specialist
What it does: analyzes and solves ethical issues related to the development and use of artificial intelligence.
What do you need:
- higher education, and preferably two: technical and humanitarian;
- deep knowledge of philosophy, ethics, sociology and psychology;
- understanding the principles of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
How much he earns: 90-160 thousand dollars a year.
Hypothetical situation: Mad Neuro Robots has created autonomous surgical robots that are controlled by artificial intelligence. The new machines are capable of performing dozens of complex operations without interruptions and weekends, and they are more accurate than live surgeons. If they are put into operation, it is obvious that the cost of operations will decrease, and the number of patients treated will increase. It would seem that what problems can there be?
But the emergence of AI surgeons raises a lot of questions. How will the robot behave in the event of an unexpected emotional reaction from the patient? What decision will he make in case of complications? How should the data that the robot collects from patients be stored and used? How will the medical profession change with the arrival of robots? Who should be held responsible in case of an error or an unsuccessful outcome of the operation?
These questions are answered by an AI ethicist. He advises developers of neural networks, predicts possible emergencies and finds solutions for them. Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Twitter even had entire teams of ethics specialists. However, ironically, we learned about this from the news about their massive reduction.
There are not many Ai job offers in the new profession yet. Vacancies can only be found on English-language career websites.
AI Product Manager
What it does: creates and develops products based on artificial intelligence.
What do you need:
- possess product manager skills;
- be well-versed in the AI solutions market;
- possess technical expertise, including knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
How much he earns: 300-900 thousand dollars a year.
On July 25, Netflix posted a vacancy for “AI product manager” with an annual salary of 900 thousand dollars.
the Network again started talking about the fact that the streaming platform plans to replace actors with digital copies:
how else to explain large investments in AI?
In addition to Netflix, which has always been known for its technological prowess. Disney and Warner Bros. are also increasing their AI investments.
By and large, the AI product manager is a good old product that specializes in AI and machine learning. The profession requires some technical skills, such as data analysis, and involves working closely with specialists in data science.
However. any product manager can move to AI product management if they understand technology and are interested in artificial intelligence & machine learning.
The product manager at Netflix is expected to work on improving the effectiveness of MLPs. This is Netflix’s proprietary artificial intelligence platform, which is at the heart of their recommendation system.
It seems that in the foreseeable future, only the highest-paid actors will have Ai jobs. while extras and supporting actors will be replaced by a figure. But in” Joan is terrible, ” Netflix warned everyone…
